an unusual dream

one thing I want to share to the world is my recent discovery of what it means to be a mentor to others. As i was sleeping, I dreamt of a place where I had been once. It was in Baywalk manila . I was in a bench and I was with a kid. the child was I think was about five to seven years old. a toddler who was simple and yet familiar looking. we were playing and I never thought I would be that close to a kid. feeling that I was responsible for him and yet enjoying every time with him. There was this sense of happiness and contentment with the kid. Then suddenly he said "Dad!". It's like "Whoa! you're my son?!" It was rather an awkward moment since I was just 19 in my mind and was just enjoying the company of a cousin or maybe some other kid whose time was given to me for me to teach. then he added "When are you going to give me a mother?". "What?" this was in my mind. I came to a stop and just hugged the little kid. Embracing him felt weird. I cannot explain what happened next since I woke up. It was three days since I had the dream. I shared to the people I was mentoring and suddenly I said "Baka kayo yung bata na yun."

I got the idea that discipleship or mentoring others is a lifetime process. Like a father and son relationship, It just never ends in that. The relationship is has a time factor. Discipleship also takes time.

It takes time to build rapport and share your life to your disciples. also, In a father and son relationship, there are responsibilities to be met and also there is the joy of having a child. The responsibilities includes for you to help him or her grow to a better person and guide him through his journey in life. This is the same case in discipleship, You are to have a responsibility over the people you are mentoring. you have the responsibility for them to grow and for you to guide them. In both situations, The disciple/kid and the Discipler/father, Both of them grows at the same time. there are mistakes sometimes in the discipleship process and sometimes there are good ones. In quantum physics, time is divided in packets. The time factor in Packets can also be related to discipleship, since disipleship needs time. It does not grow within a day. It needs time.

The dream was a wake up call for me. We were called to share the Gospel and to make "DISCIPLES". DISCIPLES that will multiply. but the cost of discipleship takes time and sacrifices. But God assured us that he will empower us fro all authority was given to him and that he will never leave us nor forsake us. Before I got in to discipleship, I just first sought why would I do it. Would obedience be enough? Is there a deeper sense to it? The answer I got is that there is more than "Just obeying". Sometimes you may obey at the same time cannot understand why you are obeying. This leads to stress when you are in discipleship and eventually some may not continue or maybe some can continue and have a deeper understanding to it. But for others i would like to advice you that first you must understand why you obey. Having understood the conviction why you disciple. Making a difference, Reaching the nation, and because you want to serve GOD with all you have, That is why you obey. Being in love with the Almighty I think is the main thing why you obey. Because his Love endures especially the love of GOD. And if you ave this love you will also endure life's trials.

life is like a great meal. It is composed of wonderful ingredients we call experiences, made through different processes we call growth and made by the Chef we call God. i'm an amateur cook and i would like to share some of my favorite recipes and some experiments. I only judge base on a personal preference. I believe that good food comes from a good heart.
