as i was reading the book authored by Harold Sala, I was overwhelmed by his idea of having a birthday. In the Philippine context we may see having a birthday as our own day. because it was the day wherein we had the chance to glare at this world's beauty and this day had delivered us to the best things that we are experiencing now namely, love of our parents, the coziness of our friends and the simple smiles of people that gives us joyous feeling.
however, he cited that having our birthday is a day of evaluation. A day that must be kept precious for it must contain the very essentials of the person having it. it is the evaluation day for all that had been done of the person to fulfill his or her life's purpose.
indeed, the happiness that is felt during this day mainly due to the people that greets us is not negligible and is important to set the day as special as the celebrant expects it to be. however this must not be the focus of the day but rather the focus must be on the worshiping and evaluation of the person on what he or she did to fulfill what God had let him or her to do. I am not telling that this day must be boring but simply reminiscing and planning ahead what must be done further or maybe by setting ones heart to seek God is enough to celebrate the day. We were not born here just to live and be another person dying in the future. we have a purpose and this purpose is only found in our creator's presence.
I want to greet one of my greatest friend Sheena Yuson a Happy 18th birthday. May God bless you more and I hope God may cause you to seek him more. God bless and always have a positive attitude towards life.
